A group of ten BH alpinists organized an expedition to the peak of Mont Blanc, where they gave their support to those suffering from pulmonary hypertension in Europe, and especially those suffering in BiH.
Mont Blanc is the highest peak in the Alps. The height of “the roof of Europe” is 4,810 m, and it is located in France, in the town of Chamonix. On the 15th of July 2016, members of two sports clubs, 8 members of the sports-scientific club “Atom” from Zavidovici and two members of the club “Eco Viking” from Visoko, went on the expedition to conquer it.
One girl and nine men from the two cities spent 7 unforgettable days while conquering the highest peak in Western Europe, at which they arrived on Tuesday. Although the climb was very demanding and difficult, weather conditions were almost perfect and all 10 members of the expedition managed to climb to the top.
Expedition of BH alpinists and conquering of Mont Blanc was dedicated to people suffering from pulmonary hypertension in Europe and especially those in BiH. In this way, our alpinists joined global activity to raise awareness about this rare disease, and joined many athletes of the world who are continuously supporting this action.
This gesture of our alpinists, while achieving great success by winning the top of Europe, was also symbolic and aims to draw attention of the Bosnian public on this small and marginalized group of people in our country, and their problems related to the necessary and inaccessible therapy.
BH expedition on Mont Blanc was completed today, on the 22nd of July, and members of the expedition returned to their homes.
