Furniture production in FBiH rose by 35% by 11th October 2012 in comparison to the same period last year, while the production of timber decreased by 16%.
This data is from an analysis conducted by the Chamber of Commerce of the FBiH.
“It is important to note that there is growth in production and the export of furniture, so we can say that we offer a competitive product with higher stages of processing. This means a greater number of employed people and higher revenue”, said Šemsa Alimanovic, the advisor in the Chamber of Commerce of the FBiH.
Export has been identified as the main driver of the timber industry, and, as Alimanovič points out, we should endeavor to facilitate business for companies in all segments of production so that export will continue to grow.
According to Alimanovič, the manufacture of timber has stagnated due to high demand and competition in the international market.
“Certification of our forest products will allow for greater competition. Adoption of the Law on Forests of FBiH would be revised to refer to the forestry and manufacturing of wood products, as well as the use of biomass from our forests and waste processors”, noted Alimanović.
