The Manchester City manager explained the scratches he suffered after the match with Feyenoord a few weeks ago at a press conference ahead of the derby with Manchester United.
Guardiola, who is facing the biggest results crisis of his career and has only won one of his last 10 matches, will host Manchester United tomorrow with his City in the hope of catching up with leaders Liverpool, who failed today, through their city rival.
The poor results have also affected Pep Guardiola’s own health, and during the match with Feyenoord he scratched his face and appeared in front of TV cameras covered in scratches.
Immediately after that match, Guardiola said that he wanted to hurt himself because of the poor result (3:3), but the next day he apologized to the fans and said that it was a joke, and that self-harm is never an option.
At today’s press conference, he explained that he takes medication for skin problems.
“I’ve had skin problems for a long time. I’ve had to take antihistamines for the last two or three years. Yes, I scratched my nose with my nails, but it’s all skin left,” Guardiola said in a media statement today.
Incidentally, an antihistamine is a substance that causes the release or action of the biogenic amine histamine in the body. It is used in the treatment of many diseases such as allergies.
The Manchester derby is scheduled for tomorrow at 5:30 PM at the Etihad. It will be Pep Guardiola and Ruben Amorim’s first clash in the Premier League, Klix.ba writes.
