The Hague Prosecution: Ethnic Cleansing was Mladić’s Goal

mladic2In his closing arguments, prosecutor of The Hague Tribunal said that Mladić’s end goal was to create the great Serbian state.

Strategy of Ratko Mladić and Radovan Karadžić was to change the BiH demographic picture and have the new demographic picture accepted as permanent by the international community.

“Ethnic cleansing was not a consequence of war, but their goal! While commanding the units of the Army of Republika Srpska, General Mladić kept telling them that one of the goals must be achieved – to make Podrinje entirely Serbian territory by persecuting Muslims from the area and to create the all-Serbian state,” said Tiger.

Tiger stated that Karadžić and Mladić issued orders aimed at making the life of Bosniaks unbearable. The capital of BiH was held under something Mladić referred to as “the Serbian hammer”. Citizens were exposed to constant terror, bombing and sniper fire.

The Hague Prosecution yesterday started presenting the closing arguments on the trial of Ratko Mladić, who is accused of genocide, persecution, extermination, executions, deportations and forcible transfer, as well as crimes against humanity.

Former commandant of the Bosnian Serbs, the 74-year-old Mladić became a symbol of barbarian plan whose aim was to clean the multiethnic Bosnia and Herzegovina from Bosniaks and Serbs and which was encouraged by the desire to create the ethnically clean great Serbia.

Mladić once said in cold blood: “Borders are drawn with blood and states are marked with tombs”.

Many families of his victims in Bosnia and Herzegovina eagerly anticipate the end of the trial and the pronouncement of the verdict.
