United in a humane mission, hairdressers and citizens help children without parental care in the Bjelave home. They have already visited the Home several times and provide hairdressing services completely free of charge. For residents of the Home, this is an opportunity to get the desired hairstyle, but also to make new friends. The key message of this action is that children feel that they are not alone and that they can count on the help of friends through socializing.
Hairdressers voluntarily come to Bjelave for the third time, and in addition to a new haircut, they give the children love and attention.
“Every child who deserves love, deserves happiness and attention, deserves a beautiful haircut and the best haircut,” says hairdresser Erna Hastor.
“It’s a little thing for us, it means a lot to them, that each of us take a little time to express our love for these children,” adds hairdresser Admir Džuho.
This institution is the only home for 83 residents. Boys and girls of different ages, but also of different desires. Boys look for role models in the world of football, so they usually want to wear a hairstyle like famous football players. Girls want beautiful and well-groomed hair. Before the start of the school year, the hairdressers fulfilled all their wishes, and now they are continuing their campaign and say there will be more. And that is a significant relief for the employees of the House.
“We would provide them with these services, only it would be much more difficult. For example, I have to take two or three children each time, I have to go to a hair salon ten or twenty times. This way, with the help of the Rekord hair salon, it is much easier for us”, points out Mahir Musić, expert associate school educator at the Home for Children Without Parental Care in Sarajevo.
Good stories are heard far and wide, and good people are happy to join them. So, along with the hairdressers, other volunteers ready to help arrived at the Home. Gifts, basic necessities, but also some sweets for the most beautiful children’s smiles filled the rainy Sunday and left hope that they are not alone, nor forgotten.
“Seeing the smile on their face, the joy, especially with these little ones like Hamza and his sister, it’s really satisfying – to see that they are happy,” says Fahra Dvizac.
Humanity and empathy are the driving force behind this action, which confirms that every child deserves equal rights, love and attention. That’s why, when fate writes those bad pages, to make it easier, society offers a friendly hand, because our little will mean everything to someone.
