The swimming competition, the 36th in a row, was held yesterday in Istanbul, and this year was special for Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) because our country had a representative for the first time – Haris Muratovic.

The father of four children, humanist, passionate athlete and experienced mountaineer who climbed all the important peaks in BiH and the region, successfully swam along rathe 6.5 kilometer-long Bosphorus Strait.

Haris is already known for his feats, as he swam the 7-kilometer bay of Neum last year. This time, his determination and strength came to the fore in the challenging conditions provided by the Bosphorus.

This competition is not only a sporting event, but a unique opportunity for swimmers to try their hand at swimming between two continents – Asia and Europe.

More than 2,800 swimmers from all over the world participated in this event, where two continents merge into a symphony of swimmers, and every participant becomes a winner.

Swimming 6.5 kilometers through the Bosphorus is not at all easy, especially due to the collision of two strong sea currents – the Black Sea and the Marmara Sea.

This challenge requires top-notch physical preparation and mental strength, not only for the swimmers, but also for the attendants who keep a watchful eye on the competitors’ every move.

“It is a great honor to represent BiH at such a prestigious event. This is an opportunity to promote our country on the international stage. The key to success in such a challenge is strong mental strength and quality physical preparation. After Neum, and now the Bosphorus, I will not stop there. Thankful I thank everyone who supported me, especially my family who came to Istanbul to cheer me on,” Haris said after the race.

Haris’ dedication to sports, humanitarian goals and the promotion of BiH makes him an inspiration for all of us. His success on the Bosphorus Strait is proof that with the right preparation and motivation, there are no limits that cannot be crossed.

His story confirms the importance of perseverance, support of loved ones and belief in one’s own strength, Klix.ba writes.
