haris pasovicThe most important American Cultural Institution – Lincoln Center in New York, invited Haris Pasovic, director of the East West Center Sarajevo, to be one of the members of the founders of the initiative Global Exchange.

The aim of this initiative is to connect arts, sciences and economies and to create a platform for new ways of the association of these fields of activities. Pasovic held a speech at the inauguration event in Lincoln Center together with some of other founders.

The gathering was opened by Kathrin Farley, the legendary president of the Managing Board of Lincoln Center and Jed Bernstein, president of Lincoln Center.

Pasovic’s speech was well received. Tim Timeen, editor of the American popular portal The Daily Beast and  correspondent of London Times wrote extensively about his speech and quoted what he said :“Art is the deepest, essential expression of our humanity. Art is freedom. If we do not have that element, we are not feeling like humans. Art is not a decoration nor function. Before all – art is art!“

At the evening gala performance in Alice Tully Hall of the Lincoln Center, Haris Pasovic read a passage from the novel of Remark, All Quiet on the Western Front.

He performed together with the actor Ruben Santiago Hudson, musician Youssou N’Douro, company of the modern dance, Akram Khan, one of the world best choreographs, Israeli musician David Broz and other great artists from the USA, Brazil, China and Venezuela. The art director of the gala night was  a compositor Sir Jonathan Mills.
