A US military base in Syria was targeted by a mortar attack, the Iranian Mehr news agency reported, citing multiple sources.

The agency cited informed sources as saying that the attack was carried out on a US base located in the western part of the Syrian province of Hasakah.

The US base in question is Qasrak, which has the longest runway built by US forces in Syria.

According to the same sources, increased security measures were introduced at the main entrance to the base after the attack.

According to sources from the Arab news agency Al Maalomah, the incident occurred this morning when the facility was attacked with a mortar shell. It is stated that there is currently no information about who fired it or where it came from.

It is claimed that after the shelling, the US contingent stationed at the base was placed on high alert, several US helicopters were scrambled, and US soldiers were searching the area around the facility.
