[wzslider autoplay=”true”]Mladen Goronjic, famous breeder of animals from Prijedor, mainly poultry, is one of the few residents who did not use onions or artificial colors to prepare the Easter eggs, because his hens are coloring, or more specifically laying colored eggs.
“These are two breeds of hens – Marans and Araucana that lay eggs in dark brown color or the color of onions, and green eggs,” said Goronjic.
He says that these eggs are not much different from the ordinary ones, at least when it comes to its hardness, but green eggs showed as stronger in family egg knocking.
“These are eggs of the old Chilean breed of Araucana hens, which are slightly smaller than Marans, and eggs of both these breeds, apparently have no cholesterol, although hens are eating same food as other livestock in my backyard,” explained Goronjic.
He added that certain pigments are secreted in the organism of the hen during the formation of the shell, which provides unusual colors for eggs, and that quail eggs can also be included in these painted eggs, and there is about eighty of them in his backyard.
Goronjic is growing small animals for more than two decades. Besides quails, he has four to five breeds of ornamental ducks, swans, geese, ornamental pheasants, peacocks, several breeds of dwarf hens, doves, Vietnam dwarf pigs, rabbits, and he also has a kennel of American Staffordshire terrier.
Goronjic is also a president of Sports and Ecological Association for breeding and protecting small animals “Golub”, which recently renewed its work and regularly organizes exhibitions and exchanges of small animals and pets.
