In the coming period, Herzegovina is expecting numerous cycling events, and one of them is the “Hercegovina Classic”, which will be held on June 3 and 4.
The event will begin on Saturday, June 3, when the individual time trial is scheduled for the national championship of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and it will be held at the location “Southern Bypass of Mostar”.
On Sunday, June 4, the international road race “Grand Prize of the Municipality of Grude” will be held on the section between Grude and Drinovac.
“The race gains importance if we say that it gives valuable UCI points that are essential for all our athletes to go to the Olympic Games.” the organizers emphasized.
As they pointed out, another road race is planned as part of the “Hercegovina Classic” event, which will take place later in September.
“I am happy that Herzegovina will gather a large number of athletes this week and that we will once again present our country as a cycling destination. We are already expecting the arrival of the first athletes on Thursday so that they can train on our roads in order to fight for the title of national champion for 2023. I must emphasize that the time trial race will decide the national champion in the time trial and he will receive valuable UCI points, but also wear the state champion jersey with the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina which he will wear in the UCI races,” said Toni Zorić, president of the association “Hercegovina Bicikl “.
The organizers say that they have received approval for the organization of this event from the Federal Roads and the Ministry of the Interior, and that they are approaching the final stages of preparation.
They noted that traffic on the southern bypass of Mostar will be suspended from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and will be redirected via Žovnica towards Mostar.
