Hezbollah announced today that it shot down an Israeli drone over the southern Lebanese city of Jibchit, after which the aircraft caught fire.

The Lebanese group stated in a statement that its air defense units successfully shot down an Israeli Hermes 450 drone with a surface-to-air missile.

Hezbollah also said it launched numerous rockets at the She’ar Yashuv settlement in northern Israel and targeted two Israeli Merkava tanks with guided missiles near the town of Misgav Am and on the outskirts of Taybeh in southern Lebanon.

It is said that both tanks were destroyed and that the crews were killed.

The Israeli military has confirmed that one of its drones has crashed in southern Lebanon.

Israel has launched a massive air campaign in Lebanon since September 23 against what it claims are Hezbollah targets. The cross-border war between Israel and the Lebanese group began a year ago.

According to Lebanese health authorities, more than 2,540 people have been killed and more than 11,800 injured in Israeli attacks since last year.

Israel escalated the conflict on October 1 this year by launching a ground attack on southern Lebanon, AA writes.
