The Lebanese group Hezbollah confirmed on Sunday that their military commander, Nabil Qaouk, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in southern Beirut.
The group announced that Qaouk was killed in the Saturday attack near Chiyah, in southern Beirut.
The Israeli military announced early Sunday that they had killed Qaouk, describing him as the head of Hezbollah’s preventive security unit.
Israeli forces launched large-scale airstrikes in Lebanon earlier this week, killing hundreds and displacing thousands. Tensions further escalated after Nasrallah and other commanders were killed in Beirut on Friday.
