Last week, a donation of 25 tons of flour from HIFA Group arrived at the Public Kitchen in Tuzla, which then provided free bread to the most vulnerable citizens of Tuzla for a period of 35 days – as was announced by HIFA Group.
The Public Kitchen in Tuzla which operates within the “Merhamet” organization feeds around 3,600 of its most vulnerable citizens on a daily basis. But, because of the difficult economic situation which has crept into all aspects of society, the number of the hungry increases every day.
Within this Kitchen, there are 16 checkpoints operating, located in Kalesija, Lukavac, Gračanica, and Tuzla, where the food is being prepared. The funds allocated for the Kitchen by the municipal and cantonal authorities are insufficient and cover approximately 25-30% of the expenses. So, around 70% of the resources needed for the Kitchen’s work come from humane people in the form of donor funds. That is how the donation from the 100% domestic HIFA Group provided the food for the most vulnerable for 35 days.
The manager of the regional court of the “Merhamet” in Tuzla, Adil ef. Pezerović thanked HIFA Group, saying how this donation arrived at the right time and this was the last hope for the vulnerable. Also, he pointed out that this was one of the largest donations they had ever received, and invited all the citizens to help the most vulnerable citizens as much as they can.
“This is the second donation of a truckload of flour from HIFA Group for the Public Kitchens. The last time we donated 25 tons of flour for two Public Kitchens in Mostar, and this time we donated 25 tons of flour for the “Merhamet” in Tuzla. By this act we wanted to draw attention to the need for helping the Public Kitchens in their work. Their very existence is at stake, which directly brings into question the survival of the great number of socially vulnerable citizens all around B&H. We recognized the need for financial support of these Kitchens so we decided on this step. We hope that when others see our act they will follow our steps and help in a similar way”- explained the manager deputy of HIFA Group, Zulfo Jusufović.
