Armin Maric (1999), the student of the fourth grade of the Gymnasium in Bosanska Krupa, which is located in the northwest of BiH, is the first young person from our country that was nominated for the International Children’s Peace Prize.

In previous years, the only candidate was one of his peers from Macedonia, and thus, Armin has the honor that the world gets to know what this young generation is doing in the regional countries through his application.

This year, a total of 150 young people from all around the world applied for this award, which will be awarded in early December this year, and eight of them are from Europe.

“I hope that I will be able to open the door to new candidates or new nominations from BiH and the region and that I have opened some doors for young people and motivated young people throughout the whole BiH. I am very motivated by my environment and my parents and I would like to thank them for that. Everyone is giving me the motivation to continue in what I do, to be the best in that, which I usually manage. I can say that this represents the crown of my successes so far.”

Armin is very talented and there are no limits for him when it comes to education and searching for new knowledge.

“I would especially emphasize the EdX initiative, which was one kind of competition at which I represented my school. It is the most famous international educational site, and it offers free access to courses from the best universities in the world to everyone interested. I had the opportunity to attend the course of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology – MIT, one of the most famous universities in the world, and finally, of course, the introduction to biology. It was a really extensive course and I attended university lectures, after which we all competed for certificates. We were required to pass a final exam consisting of 240 tasks from different fields of modern biology in order to obtain the certificate,” said Armin.

“I would also like to mention another competition that took place in 2015, Bold Education Games, which is the most famous international educational competition for children, i.e. youth, and it is organized every third year. A total of 6.3 million children from 166 countries applied for the competition that year. I was ranked among top 100 best students in the world. Thus, my school was declared as one of the best schools as well, and I am very proud of that success,” said this young and talented boy from Bosanska Krupa.
