Higher Electricity Bills from January 1 in Republika Srpska

Households in the Republika Srpska will receive a ten percent higher electricity bill from January 1, and the economy by six percent, because the RS Energy Regulatory Commission decided today at the request of distribution companies to increase the price of the network fee.

The distribution network fee is paid with the bills for consumed electricity and accounts for about 50 percent of the total bill. Distribution companies submitted a request for an increase of this item in the spring, by 46 percent.

The price of electricity was not the subject of today’s discussion, and the last time electricity increased in price was at the beginning of this year, by an average of about eight percent.

Incidentally, the price of electricity is the subject of discussion within the “Elektroprivreda RS” itself and the RS Government, as its founder. On November 15, the ERS management officially requested approval from the regulator to increase the price of electricity for households, but this request was withdrawn.

For those who currently consume between 250 and 300 kilowatts of electricity per month, the bill is around 50-60 BAM, which means that they will pay 55-65 BAM more from January.
