With the adapted Stabilization and Association Agreement from the 1st of February, producers of fruit and vegetable will be able to export unlimited quantities of products free of duty to the EU, and quotas for export of fish and wine are increased as well.
Manufacturers of trout will be able to export 500 tons duty-free in the EU, and so far they were able to export 60 tons, while the quota for export of carp is 140 tons.
“We annually export 50 to 60 % of our products in the EU, mostly in Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Switzerland, and the rest are sold in neighboring countries and on BH market,” said Director of “Tropik ribarstvo – Ribnjak Janj”, Zoran Tepic.
He stated that in the RS is mostly grown trout and that the quota could be even higher, up to 5,000 tons, due to the fact that 500 tons are capacity of a third of a company.
For fruit and vegetable producers from February is opening huge EU market, besides the Russian market, where they already successfully exported products.
President of the Association of Fruit Producers of the RS, Dragoja Dojcinovic, noted the importance of protecting domestic production and export incentives, and noted that fruit producers, mainly, can export the entire production to Russia.
When it comes to wine, the quota was increased from 16,000 to 40,000 hectoliters, and director of the winery “Podrumi Vukoje” Radovan Vukoje said that this does not mean much considering that BiH has not exported this quota so far.
Vukoje said that this winery is exporting to three continents and 25 to 35 % of annual production, which is subordinate to the vineyard, and it amounts to 120,000 to 170,000 liters.
