HJCP President: All Cases in ‘Sky’ Application are in Investigative Phase

President of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Halil Lagumdžija, said today at the sixth annual conference of the Judicial Forum for BiH that all cases initiated on the basis of information collected through the “Sky” and “Anom” applications are in the investigation phase.

As he stated, indictments have not been filed in any case, but he believes that the first indictments resulting from the information gathered from the aforementioned applications will not be long in coming. He emphasized that law enforcement agencies and prosecutor’s offices must appoint experts for these cases who are able to do the work in a professional manner.

He noted that no one has said that the use of evidence obtained through applications is illegal.

He also referred to the case of prosecutor Dijana Kajmaković.

“The case is still in the pre-investigation phase, so I would not prejudge anything, but any information that the holder of judicial office is mentioned in a negative context, especially in the context of committing criminal acts, damages the reputation of the judiciary. On the other hand, it is good that the judiciary is ready to deal with such things. I have no doubts that we have to carry out such processes to the end,” he said.

The sixth annual conference of the Judicial Forum for BiH is being held today and tomorrow in Jahorina, on the topic “Decision-making in criminal cases of organized crime – standards of using evidence obtained by modern communication technologies”.

The conference gathers representatives of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BiH, courts and prosecutor’s offices in BiH, the State Agency for Investigation and Protection, international organizations, as well as judges of the European Court of Human Rights and lawyers.
