Dragiša Tešić and Rajko Losić were acquitted of charges of war crimes against prisoners of war and war crimes against the civilian population by the first-instance verdict of the District Court in East Sarajevo, the Balkan Research Network of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BIRN BiH) learns.
The verdict was handed down on December 1.
Dragiša Tešić and Rajko Losić are accused of having inhumanely treated prisoners of war and civilians imprisoned at the premises of the Basic Court in Vlasenica from May 1993 until the end of December 1995.
Tešić was charged as a member of the Army of the Republika Srpska, and Losić – as a member of the reserve staff of the Vlasenica Public Security Station – as a guard. The indictment against Tešić was confirmed in September 2016, and against Losić in March 2019. By the Court’s decision, these two cases were merged.
The East Sarajevo District Public Prosecutor’s Office told BIRN BiH that they have not yet received a written copy of the verdict, and once they do, they will decide on the appeal.
