Holders of Serbian Passports in Kosovo without Visa Liberalization

Visa liberalization came into force today for the residents of Kosovo, but it does not apply to holders of passports issued by the Coordination Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia.

It was confirmed from Brussels that both the European Parliament and the Council of the EU must agree on such a decision and that the procedure is ongoing, “Kosovo Online” announced.

According to the knowledge of this portal, when it receives the “green light”, the proposal is sent to the Working Group for Visas, after which confirmation is also required in the European Parliament, and the last step in the process is approval at the ministerial meeting.

The European Commission previously submitted a proposal to abolish visas for citizens who have passports issued by the Coordination Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia, but the procedure is still ongoing.

After the European Commission’s proposal to abolish visas for Serbian passport holders living in Kosovo, Pristina asked the EU to reconsider that proposal.

RTS announced that the first group of people traveled today from the Pristina airport on an organized plane to Austria, without visas for EU countries, except for Spain, which started the visa-free travel regime for the residents of Kosovo in the Schengen area.
