The public in Bosnia and Herzegovina has been upset for days about the death of a ten-year-old boy. The boy was hospitalized on August 26 due to a severe headache, and died two days later, during transport to the Banja Luka University Clinical Center. The parents blame the doctors for the child’s death, and the Bijeljina hospital has initiated disciplinary proceedings against two doctors.
Disciplinary proceedings were initiated against doctors Branka Gavrić and Bojan Gajić due to established procedural errors that led to death of the ten-year-old boy, it was announced today from the hospital in Bijeljina.

The commission found that there were procedural errors made by Dr Branka Gavrić and Bojan Gajić, Dr. in the procedure of determining disciplinary responsibility.”, said doctor Nela Mitrovic, President of the Commission for Internal Supervision.
Upon our inquiry, the parents did not want to talk to the media. In one of the earlier media appearances, they pointed out that the boy was treated for sunstroke, and that later one of the doctors suspected meningitis, while after arriving at the UKC in Banjaluka, they were told that the boy’s death was one hundred percent the fault of the doctors in Bijeljina.
“Neurological findings on several occasions were completely normal. He was examined by pediatricians, two neurologists, and on Monday, around eleven o’clock, an examination of the fundus of the eye was performed, the path of the papillae, an absolute indication for further neuroradiological treatment, this boy did not have it “, doctor Iva Dzuvelekovic, Head of the Department of Pediatrics at the Hospital in Bijeljina, explained.
The director of the Bijeljina hospital requested that the doctors be prevented from further performing their duties. The Entity Ministry of Health reported on everything.
“I initiated disciplinary proceedings against the two doctors mentioned and gave an order, a decision, to the chief to prevent the mentioned doctors from providing health care services to patients. This is what the law allows me at this moment. I will do my best to investigate down to the smallest detail.”, doctor Zlatko Maksimovic said.
