Houthis Vow to Continue Strikes on Israeli Ships in Response to Gaza Aid Blockade

Yemeni Houthis have stated that they will attack any ship that violates the ban on Israeli vessels passing through the Red Sea, the Arabian Sea, the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and the Gulf of Aden and that the decision takes effect immediately.

The leader of the Yemeni Houthis announced earlier on Friday that the group would continue its naval operations against Israel if Israel does not lift the blockade on aid to Gaza within four days.

During the war in Gaza, the Houthis participated in attacks on ships they claimed were linked to Israel, halting their operations when Israel and Hamas reached a ceasefire agreement.

Israel has banned the entry of food and aid into the Gaza Strip after failing to comply with a previous agreement on the second phase of the truce between them and Hamas. Israel has also cut off the supply of electricity to the Gaza Strip.

During Israel’s attack on the Gaza Strip, the Houthis carried out dozens of attacks on various ships they claimed were linked to Israel or headed to ports controlled by Israel. Israel, the United Kingdom (UK), and the United States (U.S.) have conducted airstrikes on Houthi positions in Yemen.
