How B&H is going to fight Terrorism?

terrorismStrategy for Prevention and Fight against Terrorism for the period 2015 – 2020 of B&H is based, first of all, on the approach of the European Union on prevention and fight against terrorism. Its main objective is to suppress all forms of extremist and terrorist activities.

The main objective of the Strategy is to fight against all forms of extremist and terrorist activities while respecting the values of democracy, the rule of law and human rights and freedom, and the ultimate aim is to make B&H a safe place for living and work for all of its citizens, as well as others who live on its territory.

Strategic measures in the field of prevention are focused on preventing vulnerable people and groups to choose violent forms of extremism and terrorism as a tool for achieving their goals.

Significant preventive effects are planned to be achieved through: cooperation with citizens and civil society organizations, work of the police in the community, development of specific security program for vulnerable local communities, special emphasis will be put on increased involvement of local religious leaders, youth and women. The role of the public and private sectors in all these processes must be concrete and visible at the local level.

By special preventive measures is predicted suppression of abusing the Internet for terrorist purposes, as well as widespread phenomenon of hate speech and inciting hate crimes and discrimination.

A significant part of the measures are provided for improvement of the protection of borders in order to prevent or minimize the possible entry of the safety interesting people from other countries as well as the operational monitoring of B&H citizens who are associated with terrorism.

Additionally, in the part for the transport and storage safety, special attention will be given to questions of transport and storage of weapons, explosives and dual-use goods, as well as chemical, biological and nuclear materials (CBRN). A separate set of measures will be provided for activities for protection of critical cyber infrastructure.
