A total of 8,873,000 tonnes of goods were transported by the Railways of the FBiH in the year of 2017, which is by 10,000 tonnes more than in the previous year.  About 23,000 tonnes more were transported in comparison to the plan, and the internal traffic dominates with 5,948,000 tonnes, as noted in the statement by the Government of the FBiH.

The largest volume of transport was realized for Elektroprivreda BiH (4,045,891 tonnes), Arcelor Mittal Zenica (2.525.725 tonnes), GIKIL Lukavac (1.073.276 tonnes) and Aluminum Mostar (245.020 tonnes).

They realized a total of 743,600,000 neto-tonnes of kilometers, which is by 4 % more than planned.

Last year, 355,000 passengers were transported, while that number amounted to 258,000 last year. This is 97,000 passengers more when compared to the planned increase of 13,000 passengers or 4 %.

They realized 21,900,000 passenger kilometers, while that number was 12,900,000 in the year of 2016, which is by 1,300,000 or 6 % more than planned.

This increase represents a result of the inclusion of modern and comfortable talgo wagons, with which was improved the quality of service. Old capacities that were used in local traffic have been replaced with electromotor and RIC wagons.

It was also stated that the traffic on south railway was re-established in June 2017, i.e. high-speed passenger trains on the route Capljina – Sarajevo – Capljina and local trains on the route Konjic – Sarajevo – Konjic. The seasonal train on the route Sarajevo – Capljina – Sarajevo was also introduced with a return ticket for the bus to Neum and the connection to Makarska.
