How much has the Average Salary increased in the last Decade in BiH?

The average monthly net salary paid in Bosnia and Herzegovina in May of this year was 1,106 convertible marks (BAM), and according to official data, it increased by 270 BAM in the last decade.

Based on data from the BiH Statistics Agency, the average monthly net salary paid per employee in legal entities in BiH for May 2022 was 1,106 BAM, which shows a nominal growth of 6.2 percent compared to December 2021, while in compared to May 2021, nominally higher by 12.8 percent.

The total net salary in Bosnia and Herzegovina in May 2012 was 836 BAM, which is an increase of 270 BAM for a period of ten years.

The trade union consumer basket calculated by the Federation of Independent Trade Unions (SSS) of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the month of June 2022 is 2,640.21 BAM.

“The average salary paid in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the month of April 2022 was 1,080 BAM, which is the latest data published by the Federal Bureau of Statistics and is 16 BAM lower than the previous month. The coverage of the trade union consumer basket by the average salary is 40 “90 percent,” the SSS announced.

When creating the Trade Union Consumer Basket, the average salary paid in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina was considered, as well as the minimum living expenses of a four-member family consisting of two adults and two children, one of whom is in high school and the other in elementary school.

The consumer basket consists of – 45.70 percent, housing and communal services – 13.80 percent, hygiene and health maintenance – 7.25 percent, education and culture – 7.58 percent, clothing and footwear – 13.63 percent, transportation – 5 .22 percent and household maintenance – 6.82 percent.

“In the food category, prices from three shopping centers were used for 86 items. When it comes to hygiene and health maintenance, the costs for ten items were counted, and for housing and communal services, the costs for six items”, according to the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of BiH.
