How the EU portrays the Countries of the Balkans?

The European Commission marked International Youth Day on its official Facebook page, and on this occasion, they published a map of the Old Continent showing certain specificities of the countries.

The illustrated map, intended above all for children, shows numerous European sights, and as it was emphasized, in this way children can explore every corner of Europe.

”Beautiful, diverse, and so much to discover,” said the European Commission.

However, if the map of Europe published by the European Commission is looked at in detail, and if attention is paid to the Balkans, it can be seen that the European Union (EU) did not pay too much attention to this part of Europe.

The Dalmatian dog breed, Zagreb Cathedral, Diocletian Palace, and a cup of coffee, which should symbolize the residents’ love for coffee, are shown as landmarks.

It seems that the EU was not overly interested in the rest of the Balkans, so of all the symbols that adorn the countries of the Western Balkans, only the bear was left.

Many members of the Facebook community noticed this failure of the EU and expressed their dissatisfaction in the comments.

”There are bears living in most countries of the former Yugoslavia? Thank you for nothing,” is one of the comments.

”So, the countries of the Western Balkans – only dogs and bears. Interesting, true European values,” is also one of the comments on the official website.

Moreover, drawing maps and knowing certain sights of countries in Europe is not something that the EU can boast about.

At the end of May this year, the EU Delegation in Indonesia congratulated Croatia on its National Day and made a serious mistake by attaching a picture with the outlines of the Croatian state on a geographical map and historical buildings in Croatia.

There would be no problem if they did not place the Old Bridge in Mostar as one of the landmarks.
