The High Representative, Valentin Inzko, commended all citizens of Mostar who took to polling stations yesterday to vote for their representatives for the first time in more than a decade.

He also commended the BiH Central Election Commission (CEC) for successfully organizing two consecutive elections in very challenging circumstances caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and under extensive political pressure. “Despite the intense pressure and numerous attempts to undermine its credibility, the CEC’s work remained professional and efficient and enabled Mostarians to vote for a new City Council. We have full trust in the CEC, their members and their professional work,” the High Representative said.

The High Representative called for swift implementation of election results following the completion of the certification process: “Mostarians have spoken. They now expect to have the City Council which will waste no time in resolving the many issues that have been piling up over the years.”
