The High Representative, Christian Schmidt, extended his sincere condolences today to the European Parliament on the death of the Parliament’s President, David Sassoli. “Mr. Sassoli was a passionate European and a strong voice for democracy who steered the European Parliament through the very difficult circumstances resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
For Mr. Sassoli, the European project was a dream of peace and he dedicated his life to making the world a better and fairer place.
He was a strong advocate for Bosnia and Herzegovina and supported EU expansion to include the Western Balkans. He will be missed”, High Representative stated.
