Ramo Isak, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH), was interviewed yesterday about the work of the Government and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the FBiH.
He says that yesterday was their first working day on which the handover of duties was done.
“When we finished that part, I went with Mr. Campara to the Ministry, where we talked about certain current topics, about the problems we will face in the coming period. I hope that we will answer the task that the citizens of FBiH expect from us.”
Moreover, he states that the capacity of the Police Academy needs to be expanded.
“We already have over 400 requests from cadets to complete training, and we have the possibility to receive some 330. By the end of the year, there will be 1.000 requests and we will not be able to satisfy them, but there is a possibility to relocate the Federal Police Administration, to designate some new premises, and to expand the capacity of the Police Academy.”
Isak states that, although the budget that has already been adopted will be inherited, in certain segments they can redistribute funds.
“In the near future, we will go into preparation for the budget rebalancing, where we will plan certain things immediately. There are things that are unnecessary at this moment, but we have more necessary things. We will do everything that is necessary to strengthen it, to bring the quality of the police to a better level. Also, there is a lack of police personnel in the Federal Police Administration, and as soon as possible we must announce public, transparent competitions in order to receive as many quality police officers as possible.”
The security situation is currently stable
As the biggest challenge in his future work, Isak singles out the situation of the country.
“The security segment is the most important. For someone to invest in a country, he is first interested in whether that country is safe. Security is everything, for the economy and everything else.”
Furthermore, Isak points out that he received information from associates that the security situation is currently stable.
“However, there are certain hints, certain politicians use the media space to present the situation as a bit tense, etc. There is no need for that. At the head of the FBiH Ministry came a man who, together with his collaborators, will certainly be able to answer any and every task, and certainly the safety of the citizens of FBiH, but BiH too, will not be threatened.”
About the murder of eight students in an elementary school in Belgrade, he stated: “This case shook us all today. It is something that is really not good to happen anywhere in the world. 90% of things can be prevented. We should work as much as possible on the prevention and education of children at school. That child probably does not know what he has done. We should do as much as possible for the safety of children at school.”
About the criticism that followed his appointment, Isak says: “I, Ramo Isak, have no criminal record, I have a certificate that I do not have a criminal record, and I do not want to talk about this.”
I hold a few things against Ogresevic
Isak claims that it is not true that he got the position of minister in exchange for his son’s vote for this government.
“This is mainly speculated by those who are not satisfied with what happened. This Government was appointed with 51 hands, 50 was enough, and it had two more. Arnel led that team regarding agreements regarding the formation of a parliamentary majority, and Arnel was not asked to form a parliamentary majority, we were asked to be part of the team. The proposal of the coalition partners was for me to take the position of Minister of Internal Affairs because they know my qualities.”
He explains that he left NES because he asked that Zenica-Doboj Canton (ZDC) not be part of the story of the coalition with the Eight.
“We in the ZDC have behind us a Government that worked for four years and which has the best result in the last 25 years. Simply, Ogresevic made a decision and he first formed the ZDC, then he negotiated the state, then the Federation, etc. And in the end, he formed the Government in the Una-Sana Canton (USC). Then the question arises, who is trustworthy? I hold a few things against Ogresevic, and one of them is ZDC. We were neglected, we were not fully informed, and the politics of a few people was being pursued.”
“As far as the media is concerned, I have always had extremely good cooperation. There were some misunderstandings, but not in the way it was presented. As far as I am concerned as Ramo Isak, no one will have a problem, especially as far as I am concerned as the Minister of Internal Affairs,” Isak concluded.
