The Dash 8-Q400 plane landed at Mostar Airport yesterday, and shortly after took off for Zagreb, thus making official the introduction of an air route between the capital of Croatia and Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
On this occasion, the mayor of Mostar, airport officials, and the airline company Croatia Airlines, which will operate the flights, addressed the public. There were 20 passengers on yesterday’s flight from Zagreb, while 22 flew in the opposite direction.
“Considering the circumstances and the short period we had to prepare the route, these are satisfactory figures. This is the first route at Mostar airport after three years. It is true that there were charter flights, but this is something completely different. This flight opens a window and a new space for us towards Europe and the world,” said the director of Mostar Airport, Marko Djuzel.
The general director of Croatia Airlines, Jasmin Bajic, said that the line Zagreb – Mostar – Zagreb represents, for the entire region, the possibility of connection and travel around the world via the main European hubs.
“Croatia Airlines, as well as a Star Alliance partner, provides flights to over a hundred destinations for passengers from Mostar. This is of great importance for the region as well. I hope that the project will be successful. Thank you to the City of Mostar and the Airport for everything done during the realization. I hope that together through promotion, we will enable passengers to reach their destination more easily,” Jasmin Bajic stated.
Flights will depart from Mostar on Mondays and Fridays at 6 a.m. and on Wednesdays at 1:05 p.m., while departures from Zagreb are on Wednesdays at 11:25 a.m. and on Thursdays and Sundays at 11 p.m. The base price of a return ticket is 119 euros, while a one-way ticket to Zagreb is 89 euros, and to Mostar 99 euros.
