Iranian centrifuge facilities in Tehran and the central province of Karaj have been hit, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced.

“IAEA has information that two centrifuge production facilities in Iran were hit, the TESA Karaj workshop and the Tehran Research Center,” said the United Nations (UN) nuclear watchdog on platform X.

“At the site in Tehran, a building was hit in which advanced centrifuge rotors were produced and tested. In Karaj, two buildings were destroyed in which various centrifuge components were produced,” they added.

The agency noted that both locations had previously been under its monitoring and verification as part of the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action).

Escalation of conflict between Iran and Israel

On June 13th, Israel launched large-scale attacks targeting Iranian nuclear facilities in several cities, as well as high-ranking military command centers.

Iranian media reported on Wednesday that the number of those killed in the Israeli airstrikes on Tehran and other populated areas had risen to 585, and at least 1.326 people were injured since the start of the attacks last week.

In retaliation, the Iranian military launched ballistic missiles at Israel, killing 24 people and injuring over 500, according to reports.

Numerous countries, including Turkey, condemned the Israeli actions.
