In the Commemorative Center in Tuzla, the identification of another victim of the crimes committed during the last war in the area of Visegrad is scheduled for Monday, May 29.

The spokeswoman of the Institute for Missing Persons of BiH, Emza Fazlić, told Fena that this is a victim who disappeared in Visegrad in 1992, and her remains were exhumed in the area of Srebrenica in 2008.

According to her, in recent days, four more victims of crimes committed in Visegrad during 1992 have been identified, according to the order of the District Prosecutor’s Office in East Sarajevo.

The remains of these victims were exhumed in the Perućac lake area, Đurevića Polje, Gornje Štitarevo, Višegrad municipality.

Fazlić says that the victims were first identified through the DNA method, and then their family members confirmed that identity.

Among the identified victims is the boy Ibrahim (Salko) Hodžić, born in 1982 in Višegrad. He was only ten years old when he was killed in 1992. His remains were exhumed in September 2010 at the site of Lake Perućac.

Fazlić notes that the search is still on for the remains of Ibrahim’s family, including father Salko and mother Pašija, as well as sisters Fatima, who was only eight years old, and Fata, a thirteen-year-old girl.

Apart from Ibrahim, Osman (Šaban) Ribac, born in 1932 in the municipality of Višegrad, disappeared in 1992 in the area of Višegrad, was also identified in the premises of the Public Utility Company “Gradska groblja Visoko”.

The family also confirmed the identity of Asima (Asim) Tvrtković, born in 1952 in Višegrad, where she disappeared in 1992. Also identified was Edin (Ismet) Karčić, born in 1965 in Višegrad, where he disappeared in 1992.

“The families of Asima Tvrtković and Osman Ribac gave their consent for the burial of these victims at the collective funeral that should be held on June 3 in Višegrad,” said Fazlić.

In the area of Visegrad, 920 people went missing, and the search for 496 victims is still ongoing.
