At the conference entitled “Politicization of the War Crime in Srebrenica”, organized in Belgrade by the Eurasian Security Forum, the genocide in Srebrenica was denied and relativized, despite having been finally confirmed before international and domestic courts. Participants in the gathering, among whom were retired military officials, politicians, and certain academics, put forward claims that genocide did not occur in Srebrenica, but rather a “war crime,” and stated that the issue of Srebrenica is a “political tool of the West directed against the Serbian people.”
Institute for Research on Genocide Canada (IGC) sends a message to the participants of the Belgrade gathering that their action is deeply anti-civilizational, dehumanizing, inhumane, dangerous to peace and stability in the world, and devastating for international justice and law. Their action degrades the United Nations (UN) and international legal and judicial authorities and documents, it was stated by the IGC.
Those who deny the judgments of international courts, who undermine international law, justice, and truth, who attempt to revise history, judicial and scientific arguments, as well as those who in recent times dangerously threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty, independence, and political subjectivity of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) in the name of extremism, belong to the historical inhumane waste against which, unfortunately, we still must fight even more today. We continue the struggle for a better future of our civilization, for a world without war and genocide in which peace and respect for others and those who are different will prevail, in which truth will prevail over falsehood, justice over guilt, and a culture of remembrance over a culture of forgetting.
Genocide deniers have no chance against truth and justice. Our choice is truth, justice, and a culture of remembrance. This is the time of truth and justice in which you have no chance. Your denial of historical, judicial, and scientific facts about the genocide in Srebrenica and BiH is in vain. In vain do you abuse science against truth and justice by spreading lies. In your immoral activity, you have no chance. We, fighters for truth and justice, in cooperation with human rights and freedoms activists and genocide researchers, finding ourselves on the right, humane side of history, stand with heads held high alongside truth and justice, alongside the survivors of genocide. Because the battle for BiH is first won in the field of truth, justice, and an institutional culture of remembrance.
In Canada, the lesson about the aggression and genocide in Srebrenica and BiH has already been learned. We have shown how powerful a weapon education about the genocide in Srebrenica is in the fight against hate crimes, because hatred led to genocide. While you threaten, we neither kneel nor beg. We fight for truth and justice.
