Cvitanovic: Agreement between Croats and Bosniaks preserved BiH on several Occasions

”I call for an agreement in the Federation because the agreement between Croats and Bosniaks has preserved Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) on several occasions and can preserve it for a long time,” said Ilija Cvitanovic, president of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) 1990.

Cvitanovic said that he does not want to underestimate everything that is happening when it comes to the blockade of the state and that those who are blocking the processes in BiH are doing great damage to BiH, but also to themselves.

He adds that nobody will support the story of the independence of the Republika Srpska (RS): ”I am sure that the story of independence is a story that has no foundation, no cover, which is simply a political story that no one will really support,” claims Cvitanovic.

I could not say: Save the RS

Cvitanovic mentioned that he could never say the sentence that his colleague from the HDZ BiH, Dragan Covic, said at the speaker of the National Assembly of the RS (NARS): ”His departure to Banja Luka should not be presented as something bad, it is OK, I would not have a problem with that visit, but with the sentence ‘save RS, I simply could not say it and I think it is a political gaffe that was unnecessary.”

Sanctions work…

The leader of the HDZ 1990 says that the best sanctions for all those who obstruct the processes in BiH would be the electoral will of the voters to remove them from the political scene.

”I also believe that the sanctions imposed on individuals in BiH should not be underestimated. I think that they also affected these individuals, regardless of the fact that they are trying to completely ignore it in public. So, they had their significance,”Cvitanovic explained.

To go to the elections or to boycott them?

According to Ilija Cvitanovic, HDZ 1990 is very firm in its position that there are no conditions for holding elections in the fall of this year: ”We will probably have certain activities related to the judiciary for those who would call the elections and who have the responsibility. But negotiations are ongoing and we will see how it ends. I would give a chance to try to reach a solution.”
