Why is it important for BiH to access the Transport Community?

Membership in the Transport Community is very important for Bosnia and Herzegovina, and all participants in this process need to be aware of that fact because all important regional projects will be created in the Transport Community, stated Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, Mirko Sarovic.

He noted that the text is unique and that none of the member countries of the Transport Community can change it.

“The text came from the European Commission and it is intended to improve the transport infrastructure in this region. That should not be burdened by the accession of BiH to the Transport Community,” said Minister Sarovic.

He also said that he talked twice with the President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik and three times with Minister of Transport of the RS Nedjo Trninic on that topic while he was in Trieste. Also, he spoke twice with Minister of Justice Anton Kasipovic.

“I told them that I will support every proposal that comes from the RS, I can have my position and they do not have to worry whether I will support it, but that is not enough. You have to see what Brussels says and partners from the Bosniak and Croat peoples in the Council of Ministers of BiH “, stated Sarovic, and added that he believes that this approach should be free of any excess things and that the proposal from the RS is burdened with things that blocked both the RS and the entire BiH to join the Transport Community.

Moreover, Sarovic stated that he helped in negotiations with the Government of Turkey related to the financing of an important route that will link the major cities of BiH and Serbia.
