The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of Government Finance Statistics, further confirming their commitment to improving the quality, reliability, and international comparability of fiscal data.

The Memorandum strengthens inter-institutional cooperation and will enhance the alignment of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s statistical system with European Union standards, while contributing to the reinforcement of the institutional framework in the field of economic policy.

As signatories to the Memorandum, the Central Bank and the Agency for Statistics will, within their respective competencies, actively contribute to the development and improvement of Government Finance Statistics (GFS) and the Excessive Deficit Procedure (EDP), in line with EU methodology and the principles of the European Statistics Code of Practice.

Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dr. Jasmina Selimović, emphasized that cooperation with the Agency for Statistics contributes to more precise and reliable reporting, as well as improved international comparability of data.

“Reliable and methodologically harmonized statistics enable effective monitoring of fiscal indicators and contribute to greater transparency of public finances, which is essential for the stability and economic development of our country,” Governor Selimović stated.

Director of the Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Vesna Ćužić, added that this form of institutional cooperation enables the further development of the country’s statistical system.

“Through joint efforts, we strengthen trust in official public finance statistics, enhance the credibility of fiscal policies, and contribute to the country’s readiness to meet its obligations in accordance with international and European fiscal transparency criteria,” Director Ćužić emphasized.

The signing of the Memorandum represents an important element of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s economic dialogue and cooperation with the European Commission and Eurostat.
