Protests were being held in front of the Canton Sarajevo (CS) Government building in coordination with eight trade unions of public sector workers.
Public sector workers in CS, as representatives of eight trade unions, were present in large numbers yesterday holding protests in front of the CS Government building.
Saudin Sivro, President of the Cantonal Board of the Independent Trade Union of Primary Education of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH), addressed the protestors yesterday and on behalf of all the other unions presented the demands they sent to Prime Minister Edin Forto and the entire cantonal government.
”We demand compliance with the Coordination of Trade Unions as a social partner, as well as an increase in salaries. We also demand that by the end of this year, one-time financial aid to workers in the public sector in CS be paid, as the cantonal and federal governments have done. We do not want to be a buffer zone between dissatisfied workers and the cantonal government,” Sivro stated.
Sivro has repeatedly emphasized that public sector workers in CS are dissatisfied and that the government is irresponsible. It is necessary, as he says, for Forto to come out and speak.
”If we allow the workers to move towards the government, we are afraid that this government will end up in Herzegovina. Unsatisfied workers will certainly ask for some measures if their status is not improved,” Sivro added.
He also said that Forto had announced a meeting with the workers, but that they did not need it – ”we don’t need meetings, we need money”.
”Enough of the populism and demagoguery,” Sivro said.
Prime Minister Edin Forto came out in front of the government, where the protests were held, with the aim of addressing the workers. However, he met with the dissatisfaction of those present, so he did not even begin his speech, Klix.ba reports.
