An Increase of 16 Percent in Tourists’ Visits to BiH recorded

In October 2017 tourists realised 123,685 tourist arrivals in Bosnia and Hercegovina which represent the decrease by 12.8% as compared to September 2017 and increase by 16.4% as compared to October 2016. Tourists realised 238,765 tourist nights which represent the decrease by 16.1% as compared to September 2017 and increase by 14.4% as compared to October 2016. Domestic tourists share of total number of overnight stays was 27.9% and foreign tourists share was 72.1%.

The number of domestic tourist nights decreased by 9.7% as compared to September 2017 and increased by 3.6% as compared to October 2016. Foreign tourist nights decreased by 18.4% as compared to September 2017 and increased by 19.3% as compared to October 2016.

Concerning the structure of foreign tourist nights in October 2017, the most of them (50.5%) were realised by tourists from: Croatia (13.9%), Slovenia (8.0%), Turkey (7.4%), Serbia (6,7%), Italy (5.7%), Germany (4.8%) and Republic of Korea (4.0%) . Tourists from other countries realised 49.5% of tourist nights.

Regarding the average detention of foreign tourist stays in our country on the first place comes Kuwait with average stay by 3.8 nights, Irska and Malta 3.7 nights, Egypt 3.4 nights, Iran 3.6 nights, Iceland 3.2 nights, Romania, Ukraine and Greece 3.1 nights.

Available rooms, apartments and camping sites for tourists in Bosnia and Herzegovina in October 2017 amounted to 18,770, which is 8.7% increase compared to October 201The numberber of available beds was 39.625 beds, which is increase by 8.4%, compared to the same month of 2016.

In October 2017, in the activity – Hotels and similar accommodation, number of rooms and apartments available to tourists amounted to 16,575, which is an increase of 7.7% compared to October 2016., and number of available beds amounted to 33,595 which is an increase of 7.4%, compared to the same month of the previous year.

Net occupancy rate of permanent beds was 20.9%.

According to the type of accommodation facility the highest number of nights was recorded in Hotels and similar accommodation with share of 93.0%.
