This year, an increase of the number of employees by 2.7 % can be expected in BiH on an annual level, as well as the increase of the average salary by 1.9 %, according to the Directive for economic planning BiH in the “Outlook of Perspective”.

From the Directorate was noted that the number of registered unemployed persons in BiH in the month of January is by 7 % lower in comparison to the same month last year.

Moreover, the level of investment and foreign trade activities in BiH could influence creation of new workplaces, i.e. intensity of the employment, where the increase of demand and better business environment are expected with higher opportunities for employment.

Sectors that employ the largest number of people in BiH, i.e. trade and industry, could give a large contribution to new employments this year.

According to the projections of the Directorate for Economic Planning of BiH, in the period from 2019 to 2021, it is expected that the increase of the number of employed persons will be increased between 2.5 % and 2.6 % per year, as well as the increase of net salaries in the same period by 2.4 to 2.8 %.

An increase in investment, trade and industrial production is expected in the observed period, which should also have a positive impact on employment and salaries in BiH.

And the level of implementation of structural reforms in BiH will also influence the intensity of the decrease of the unemployment rate, which is one of the crucial factors for realization of projections on the labour market and creating new workplaces besides the assumptive economic growth.
