ap(sarajevo-airport)The International Airport Sarajevo has introduced a new summer flight schedule, due to the increase in the number of flights and passengers.

Unlike the winter period, new airlines were introduced. The first flights under the new scheme started on the 26th of March.

“Already in early April, two new airline companies TUIfly and Wizz Air are introducing flights to Brussels and Budapest. Also, the airline company Swiss will reintroduce airline to Zurich, and Norwegian Air Shuttle besides the airline for Stockholm, will also establish an airline to Oslo. The airline company AtlasGlobal is planning to establish airline for Istanbul in the summer,” said the spokeswoman of the International Airport Sarajevo Belma Curekovic.

In the summer months is expected increased number of charter flights as in previous years. Curekovic says that all of this will affect the positive trend of their business, which is their primary goal.

When it comes to novelties at the airport, this year’s emphasis is on the expansion of existing infrastructure.

“We are planning expansion and increase of our capacities, including spatial capacities, new technologies that will meet the needs of passengers and baggage, customs, security, passport and sanitary control on arrival and departure, waiting room for passengers, ambulance, security screening of baggage, taking over baggage, waiting room for welcoming the passengers, catering facilities, Duty Free Shop, office and commercial space for the needs of airlines and other agencies, space for religious needs and all other related contents,” said Curekovic.

Also, we are working on the improvement of services for passengers with disabilities and reduced mobility (PRM). The intercom was set at the parking lot in front of Terminal A, which is used by passengers in order to communicate with staff inside the building. In this way, PRM passengers are provided with more efficient and quick service.

Last year, more than 800,000 passengers passed through the International Airport Sarajevo, and this year they are expecting even further growth.
