By Investing in BiH Chinese Investors Get Access to Regional and the EU Market

sarajevoDeputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH Zlatko Lagumdžija held series of bilateral meetings and meetings within the highest delegation of Party of European Socialists (PES), which is led by President of PES and member of the European Parliament Sergei Stanishev, with the highest officials of the Chinese state and party.

Among others, he met with Liu Yunshan, member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of Communist Party of PR China and the first secretary of the Central Secretariat of CP PR China, Li Yuanchao, the Vice President of PR China and member of Politburo of CP PR China, Li Ruoguo, President of the Chinese EXIM Bank, Wang Jiaruio, Minister of International Department of CP PR China, Liu Jianchao, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of PR China and other high officials and businessmen.

During the meetings with high officials they agreed that bilateral relations between the two countries are constantly growing and that there are no open issues.

Lagumdžija presented infrastructural projects important for BiH to the Vice President of PR China Yuanchao and other high Chinese officials, but also projects of regional importance which were discussed at the Conference in Berlin, such as Adriatic-Ionian motorway ad Ionian-Adriatic Pipeline (IAP), modernization of railroad from Sarajevo to Belgrade, railroad Čapljina – Trebinje – Nikšić, and Corridor Vc from motorway to modernization of railroad from Ploče over BiH to Hungary.

Within the talks with the highest Chinese officials, they welcomed the declaration for cooperation of China and countries of Central and East Europe which was adopted at the Summit of prime ministers held in November last year in Bucharest, which focuses on strengthening economic and trade cooperation between China and countries of Central and East Europe.

He emphasized that BiH, with its resources and capacity, also enables access to regional market to Chinese investors based on free trade agreement CEFTA, to market of Turkey which BiH also has a free trade agreement with, and that it can be a link to the EU market where companies from our country have customs free export for about 90% of the products.
