Iran bans Pagers and Walkie-talkies on Flights

Iran has banned passengers from bringing pagers and walkie-talkies onto planes, following last month’s blasts of those communication devices across Lebanon and Syria.

The new rules apply to both the cabin and luggage space, a spokesman for Iran’s aviation agency told news agency ISNA on Saturday.

Passengers will still be able to bring in mobile phones.

Thousands of pagers and walkie-talkies owned by the pro-Iranian Hezbollah militia exploded in September. Hezbollah and Iran blamed Israel for the brazen attack.

At least 39 people were killed and about 3,000 wounded, some seriously. The victims were mostly members of Hezbollah.

Iran is Hezbollah’s closest ally in the fight against Israel’s mortal enemy.
