Bosnia and Herzegovina received significant humanitarian aid from the Islamic Republic of Iran, intended for citizens affected by the recent floods that caused great damage in the country.
The aid was handed over on behalf of Iran by the country’s ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Abuzar Ebrahimi Torkaman, to the president of the Merhamet Muslim Charity Society, Kenan Vrbanjac.
The donation includes packages of canned food and other necessary necessities, and was implemented through the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with the embassy in Sarajevo.
Ambassador Torkaman emphasized that the aid was sent with the aim of reaching the most vulnerable, and that it reflects the long-standing friendly relations between Iran and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The president of Merhamet, Kenan Vrbanjac, thanked Iran for this donation, stressing that it will greatly ease the situation for citizens who lost property in the floods.
“This is valuable help that arrives at the right moment, and it is additionally a confirmation of the continuous support that the Islamic Republic of Iran provides to Bosnia and Herzegovina. We hope that future cooperation will continue in better times,” Vrbanjac told Sahar TV.
The floods that hit different parts of the country, especially Herzegovina and the area of Donja Jablanica, caused great damage to infrastructure and residential buildings, and caused the death of more than 25 people.
Aid from Iran comes as part of a wider international response to this natural disaster, providing much-needed support to citizens in rebuilding lives and communities.
