Iran denies Division over Retaliation against Israel and says it will happen regardless of Ceasefire Negotiations

A media agency close to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) cited informed sources stating that there are no differences among senior Iranian officials regarding retaliation against Israel following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.

Earlier, United Kingdom (UK) media reported that the new Iranian President, Masoud Pezeshkian, was trying to soften Tehran’s response to Israel for the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.

Tasnim called this information a psychological operation by Israeli media.

“There is no difference on this matter at the strategic level within the ruling system, and there is a unified determination, tone, and agreement among them to carry out an action that is rare among the country’s authorities in recent years. The method of implementation is being decided at the highest level and in the Supreme National Security Council, a council chaired by the president,” the source stated.

Following the killing of Ismail Haniyeh, head of Hamas’ political bureau in Tehran, the Islamic Republic of Iran clearly announced that it would respond to this killing.

Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei warned the Israeli regime of a “harsh response” to Haniyeh’s killing, calling it the duty of the Islamic Republic to avenge the blood of the Palestinian resistance leader.

“The criminal and terrorist Zionist regime has martyred our dear guest in our homeland, leaving us in grief, but it has also laid the groundwork for severe punishment for itself,” Khamenei said.

In a similar stance, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that “the Islamic Republic of Iran will not fail to protect its territorial integrity, national sovereignty, honor, and prestige, and the Zionist regime will soon see the consequences of its cowardly and terrorist actions.”

Iran’s permanent mission to the United Nations (UN) asserted that there will certainly be a retaliatory response to the Israeli killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, regardless of ceasefire negotiations in Gaza.

In response to a question from the United States (U.S.) media on whether Iran would delay its reaction to the attack until after the ceasefire negotiations in Gaza next week, Iran’s UN mission said: “Establishing a sustainable ceasefire in Gaza is our top priority. Any agreement that Hamas agrees to will be acceptable to us.”

The mission stated that Iran’s national security and sovereignty were violated by the Israeli killing of the Hamas leader.

“We have the right to legitimate defense, which is not tied to the ceasefire in Gaza. However, we hope that our response will be delivered at a time and in a manner that will not harm the potential ceasefire,” they stated, Klix.ba writes.
