Iran-Israel Conflict continues – UN urges restraint as Casualties rise

Iran’s oil ministry says Israel has attacked two large gas fields in the southern Iranian province of Bushehr.

Citing witnesses, Iranian media said the South Pars Phase 14 gas field was hit by miniature drones.

Another gas company, Fajr Jam Gas Refining Company, was also targeted in the same province.

This is the first time reports of an Israeli attack on gas fields in Iran have been made public.

Gas production has been suspended from part of Iran’s South Pars gas field following an Israeli attack on the site, the Times of Israel reported, citing Tasnim news agency.

“Due to a fire in one of the four blocks of South Pars Phase 14, production of 12 million cubic meters of gas from the Phase 14 platform has been temporarily suspended until this part of the refinery is restored to operation,” Tasnim reported.

The attack resulted in a fire that Iran’s oil ministry said was later extinguished.
The South Pars field, located in the southern province of Bushehr, is one of Iran’s two main hydrocarbon production facilities.

Iran retaliated by launching two waves of at least 172 cruise and ballistic missiles at Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.

At least three Israelis were killed and dozens were wounded.

On the other hand, Israel again targeted Iranian nuclear facilities with around 70 aircraft, and Iranian state television announced that two generals of the Iranian armed forces who were deputy chiefs of staff were killed in the attacks.

Also, according to unconfirmed sources, Iran is considering in its war plans the options of closing the Strait of Hormuz, strikes on American bases throughout the Middle East, but also on oil infrastructure in the region, which will certainly further increase the price of this energy source. Also, Iran will certainly use its proxies such as Hezbollah and Hamas, or the Yemeni Houthis at some point. So far, at least 78 Iranians have been killed and more than 300 wounded.

Last night’s emergency session of the UN Security Council was fruitless, but Iran invoked Article 51 of the UN Charter, which gives it the right to self-defense.
