Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff have agreed to continue indirect nuclear talks in Oman next week, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said.
“The parties agreed to continue the talks next week. During the talks mediated by Oman, Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi and US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff exchanged, through the Omani Foreign Minister, the views of their governments on issues related to Iran’s peaceful nuclear program and the lifting of sanctions on Iran,” the statement said.
The talks were held in a constructive atmosphere based on mutual respect and lasted more than two and a half hours.
The two diplomats met for a few minutes in the presence of Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamud Albusaidi.
Araghchi said the second round of indirect US-Iran nuclear talks would be held on April 19.
Araghchi described the atmosphere of the indirect US-Iran talks as “calm and constructive” and thanked Omani Foreign Minister Sajid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamud Albusaidi for his efforts in mediating the talks.
