Iranian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammad Hassan Sheikholeslami, said that if the United States (U.S.) attacks Iran and its related infrastructure, Tehran’s response will be beyond imagination.
According to him, Iran “has been defending the rights of the Palestinians for 30 years and will continue to do so.”
“All countries should take the necessary measures (to protect the Palestinians and residents of the Gaza Strip). This is not the first time that the U.S. has threatened us (with strikes), we are used to daily threats. But in any case, if this happens, if they make this mistake, Iran’s response will be beyond imagination,” Sheikholeslami said.
He added that Syrians can defend their country by themselves, but if they ask for help, Iran will support them.
“The situation is catastrophic, it must be stopped. We are now doing everything in our power to prevent the spread of the conflict, together with Iraq and others,” Sheikholeslami emphasized.
On October 7th, the Palestinian group Hamas launched a massive attack on Israel. In response, the Israeli military launched Operation Swords of Iron.
The Israeli army regularly carries out attacks on the Gaza Strip to this day. The Israeli government has announced that the country has entered a state of war.
On October 16th, the first deputy head of Iran’s parliamentary committee on national security and foreign policy, Ebrahim Azizi, stated that “new fronts” could emerge against Israel if it invaded the Gaza Strip (ground offensive).
According to him, this is a “red line” for Iran.
“A war on several fronts can cause the collapse of Israel as a state,” Azizi added.
Israeli Minister of Economy and Industry Neil Barkat has threatened to strike Iran if the Iran-backed Hezbollah group opens a “second front against Israel.”
Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian said on October 23rd that the U.S. has asked Iran not to interfere in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
