Is Heating in Bosnia and Herzegovina questionable?

The citizens of Zenica could still have problems with heating this winter, all because of the insufficient work capacity of the Zenica coke plant, which is why, due to the connected way of working, the work capacity of the Zenica Toplane is also questionable.

As it was found out, the Zenica coke plant is currently operating with about 15 percent less capacity than those required for the smooth operation of the Zenica Toplane, a generation project, which was opened in March this year.

The situation before the upcoming heating season is already worrying. While Sarajevo’s Toplane, considering the outside temperatures that were below five degrees Celsius during the night, put the heating system into operation, from Zenica’s Grijanje (Heating) and company Toplane Zenica there is no indication when this could happen.

The project worth 53 million euros, of which 41 million euros are EBRD loans, and 12 million direct investments, according to the latest information, although citizens were assured, it was not designed as a project that can function independently.

Kasumovic also announced that there will be no increase in the price of heating, regardless of the price of gas, because it was agreed in a contract that has never been made public until now.

At one of the media conferences held, it was also said that the heating system will not depend on ArcelorMittal, considering that this problem existed in earlier years when the blame was shifted for the unstable heating in Zenica, when the citizens were freezing rather than enjoying the benefits of what they pay when the temperature outside is below zero.

The company ArcelorMittal told Zenit.ba that they are currently analyzing the problems that have arisen in this plant and that they will inform the public about the condition of the coke plant in a timely manner.

It is also important to mention that the City Council of Zenica made a decision on heating this year that the heating season starts on October 1st, and it is not yet known whether the radiators in the residential units will be hot, Klix.ba writes.
