Islamic Community: There is worrying Silence on the attempted Seizure of State Property

The Islamic community in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH)expressed the concern of a large number of its members about the newly emerging separatist actions of the authorities in the Republika Srpska (RS) entity and the absence of a serious reaction from the majority of domestic political factors, as well as the high representative and the international community.

“The latest unilateral and unconstitutional decisions of the Assembly in Banja Luka, in which Bosniaks now do not even have symbolic mechanisms to protect their interests and where all decision-making levers are only in the hands of one people and one policy, are a serious violation of the Dayton Peace Agreement and a threat to the stability and survival of the state,” it is said in the statement of the Riyaset of the Islamic Community in BiH.

It is reminded that the high representative of the international community as the supreme interpreter of the civilian aspect of the implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement and the Constitutional Court of BiH decide on what is constitutional and what is in accordance with the Dayton Peace Agreement.

“The non-recognition of the decisions of the Constitutional Court and the decisions of the High Representative and the unilateral interpretation of the Constitution and the unconstitutional decisions of the lower levels of government represent a clear violation of the Dayton Peace Agreement. These activities have been tolerated for years without any sanctions, which has led to the fact that almost silently, policies that do not hide their separatist intentions, have been deliveredthe state property. This creates the basis for achieving the planned war goals, which will destroy the Bosniaks as a people in part of the territory of BiH, and those parts will be Serbized and in some form annexed to neighboring Serbia,” the statement said.

Members of the Islamic community rightly suspect that this is a deliberately timed move that aims to use the transitional period of government formation and holidays to create new realities on the ground, where, contrary to the decisions of earlier high representatives and the Constitutional Court of BiH, the seizure of state property continues.

“The Islamic community hopes that all domestic and international actors will understand what a dangerous violation of the Peace Agreement and the Constitution this is and what consequences it can have for the future and stability of this country and react before it is too late and that they will take responsibility. Political responsibility is only on them, and the Islamic community considers it its moral responsibility to speak publicly about the fears of its members and to warn in time about the serious undermining of the peace agreement and the Constitution and about the possible consequences of its collapse,” it was said in the statement of the Public Relations Office of the Riyaset of the Islamic Community in BiH.
