Israeli warplanes are targeting Hezbollah targets in Lebanon after detecting moves to fire missiles and rockets at Israel.

“In self-defense to eliminate these threats the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are attacking terrorist targets,” said IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari.

Israel said Lebanese civilians had been warned to immediately leave areas where Hezbollah was active.

Soon after, Hezbollah said it had launched a major drone strike against Israel in response to last month’s killing of the group’s senior military commander.
Sirens warning of incoming rockets could be heard across northern Israel early this morning.

There are currently no reports of injuries.
In a statement, the IDF said that Hezbollah “just fired over 150 missiles from Lebanon towards Israeli territory.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he was calling an emergency meeting of his security cabinet.

Hezbollah said it fired more than 320 rockets at 11 Israeli military bases and barracks, including the Meron base and four sites in the Golan Heights, Klix.ba writes.
