Israel struck Hodeidah in Yemen on Sunday night after the Israeli military warned residents of three Yemeni ports controlled by the Houthi rebel movement to evacuate, the Houthi Interior Ministry said.

Reuters earlier reported that the Israeli military had issued evacuation warnings to residents of the Yemeni ports of Ras Isa, Hodeidah and Salif, saying they were being used by the Houthi movement, Israeli military spokesman Avichay Adraee said.

The attack on Sunday night was the latest blow in a series of attacks between Israel and the Yemeni rebel movement, Al Jazeera reported.

Israel bombed the port of Hodeidah after a Houthi attack near Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport earlier this month.

The Israeli strikes also targeted parts of the Yemeni capital Sanaa and the main international airport.

The Houthis have been firing missiles at Israel and Israeli targets in the Red Sea in a show of solidarity with Palestinians who have been the targets of attacks since the Gaza war began 19 months ago.
